ABOUT

Why RESTORE?

Professional Achievments

Worked with many professional and world champion athletes in a wide variety of disciplines and even worked on a Hollywood film set. But achievements that I am most proud of are those that have taken an individual from disability back towards some degree of independence. From confusion and anxiety to a life-changing but life-affirming diagnosis. From dedicated amateur athlete to world competitor. And all the everyday lives that have found some degree of improvement from our work together.

Ethos

RESTORE places significant emphasis on patient education, movement re-education and patient empowerment. Giving those who seek it the tools and education for genuine self-improvement.

Whether your goal is longevity or lifting weights I want everyone to benefit from the unique, patient-centred, holistic approach I offer.

My Role

As a soft tissue therapist, my job is to place you the patient at the centre of the therapeutic process.

This means having a conversation with you to hear your concerns and establish our expectations of each other.

Together, we can establish our goals and determine what may or may not be realistically possible for us to achieve and who else we might bring in to assist the process.

Highly Qualified

I am a student of Osteopathy with clear plans for the future direction of my practice. I have covered a lot in between… see below for a list of my credentials:

  • Neurokinetic Therapy levels 1, 2 & 3 certified
  • Anatomy in Motion levels 1, 2 & 3 certified
  • Sport & Remedial Massage (Soft Tissue Therapy) London School of Sports Massage
  • Bsc Sport, Health and Exercise sciences - University of Wales Bangor
  • Applied Movement Neurology

Instigator of Change

I am your facilitator. A mirror to help you see more clearly how things may have gone awry and how they may change for the better.
You are the driving force – using our sessions together as fuel for your journey along the road to a better you.
Your body is the intelligent, reflexive, symbiotic ecosystem with the innate ability to self-heal if only we can provide the opportunity.

Personal Experience

I spent many years rock climbing and biking all over the world. Admittedly, I pushed things a little too far in both disciplines, causing myself injuries and metabolic meltdowns. The advantage is that I have ‘been there done that’ with a number of injuries including spinal trauma and the degenerative legacy that has given rise to. These experiences have provided me with valuable insights that have made me a better practitioner. For this reason I can talk from experience when it comes to managing pain, fatigue and the relationship between diet, performance and dysfunction.

Meet the founder of RESTORE

Hi, My name is Paul Martin. I have been studying and working in the field of physical therapies for 25 years.

As a therapist, I consider myself allied to those world leaders and beacons of our profession who have made it their life's work to take physical therapy into the 21st century with the spirit of collaboration. A combination of common sense thinkers, hardcore researchers and those who represent the bridge between medicine, nutrition, neuroscience, functional rehabilitation and even biohacking, regenerative agriculture and wild food advocates are my inspiration.

I started with Sports science & outdoor pursuits in 1999 and I started RESTORE Sports Massage Ltd in 2005 after graduating as a sport and exercise scientist and sports massage therapist from the University of Wales, Bangor and shortly afterwards the London School of Sports Massage.

Eight years of further education and elite sports-based practice later, my depth of knowledge had deepened and my job role evolved. The company was relaunched as RESTORE Movement Health & Pain Clinic to better reflect the holistic, all-encompassing philosophy and scope of the practice. 25 years on and I am still a student of my discipline. Its called being in 'practice' for a reason - the education will never end and I have a clear direction for myself and the future of my practice.
